Applesauce Bread image

Easy and delicious! This recipe reminds me of my mom. She baked this all the time for us when we were kids. It's an oldie, but still a goodie!

Number Of Ingredients 17

1 1/2 c chunky applesauce
1 c sugar
1/2 c oil
2 eggs
3 Tbsp milk
2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 c walnuts, chopped
TOPPING
1/4 c walnuts, chopped
1/4 c brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease your 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.
  • 2. Combine applesauce, sugar, oil, eggs and milk.
  • 3. In another bowl, combine flour, soda, baking powder, salt and spices.
  • 4. Add the dry ingredients to the applesauce mixture. Beat well, then fold in walnuts.
  • 5. Pour into prepared loaf pan.
  • 6. Combine the topping ingredients. Sprinkle evenly on top of mixture in the loaf pan.
  • 7. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pan, and cool completely on rack.
  • 8. Enjoy!
