Steps:
- Cut butter into small squares. Add flour, brown sugar, baking powder and spices. Cut with pastry blender until well incorporated but not a dough. Stir in the oatmeal. Set aside. Peel and core apples. Slice into uniformly thin slices. Toss with flour, white sugar and spices -- just enough to draw out juices while baking. Based on the apples, a squeeze of lemon juice might be nice. Place apples into a buttered 8x8 baking dish. Sprinkle on topping, bake at 350 for 30 - 45 minutes. Test with sharp knife - remove when apples are soft throughout. If topping starts to brown before apples are baked through, then cover with foil for remainder of baking time.
