Apple Crisp image

We couldn't agree more about the wonderful aroma of this apple crisp recipe! Whip up a batch of this delightful dessert and welcome autumn into your kitchen. It's a very simple crisp that lets the natural flavor of the apples shine. The topping is buttery with a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg. Mixed with the apples, it's fabulous....

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 c tart cooking apples, sliced
3/4 c packed brown sugar
1/2 c all-purpose flour
1/2 c quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
1/3 c butter or margarine, softened
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp ground nutmeg
top with cream or ice cream, if desired

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 375*F.
  • 2. Grease bottom and sides of an 8-inch square pan with shortening or cooking spray.
  • 3. Spread apples in the pan.
  • 4. In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • 5. Cut in margarine or butter until crumbly.
  • 6. Sprinkle over apples. Bake about 30 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
