Steps:
- Prepare apples first. Wash, pare, core and chop apples. Measure 4 cups. To them, add the cinnamon and 1/3 cup sugar. Mix well and let stand while you make the batter. In large beater bowl mix together by hand the flour, baking powder, sugar (second amount) and salt. Add eggs, oil and orange juice. Lower beaters and beat until smooth and blended. (This is a lovely batter). Oil a 10" angel food cake pan and spoon 1/3 batter in. Now thoroughly drain all juice from apples pressing. Spoon half of the apples unevenly on the batter. Cover with 1/3 batter. Cover it with remaining apples. Top with remaining 1/3 batter. Bake at 350F for 1 ½ hours. Be sure not to underbake.
