Amber's French Bagels (French Toast) image

Recipe from a blog: "When life hands you bagels....Make french bagels. I am not quite sure how I came up with the idea to make french toast out of bagels but I am glad I did. I do not know why but french toast just tastes better when it is made out of a bagel."

Time 11m

Yield 4 slices, 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 bagels (sliced in half)
2 eggs
1 tablespoon milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Beat the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon and salt together.
  • Coat the bagels in the egg mixture and place in preheated buttered pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side.
  • (I like to smash the bagels down with a spatula as they are cooking so they get a little bit crispy on both sides).

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my French bagels turned out really dense. They weren't light and fluffy like they should have been.

These French bagels were a bit too sweet for my taste, but they were still good. I think I'll try using less cinnamon sugar next time.
