Aloha Joes image

This is a really nice change of pace from traditional sloppy joes. Recipe is from Dole.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 lb ground round
2 clove garlic (pressed or minced)
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 can(s) 15-oz can tomato sauce
2 tsp worchestershire sauce
1 tsp chili powder
1 can(s) 14.5 oz. can pineapple tidbits, drained
6 hamburger buns, split and toasted

Steps:

  • 1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Crumble meat into pan and cook until no longer pink. Reduce heat to medium.
  • 2. Add garlic and onion, cook until onion is soft. Drain and discard excess fat. Sprinkle meat mixture with salt and pepper Add tomato sauce, worchestershire sauce and chili powder.
  • 3. Simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes. Stir in drained pineapple. Remove from heat. Spoon into buns.
