A Favorite Meatloaf (1960) image

The whole family has always loved this recipe from the 60's. Leftovers make great cold or warm sandwichs. My daughter always said make a recipe the first time as is then add your own tweeks later if need be. So try to use all the ingredients. :)

Categories     Meatloafs

Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 lb ground beef low fat
1 c saltine crumbs (processed in food processor)
1 1/4 c milk
1 egg - beaten
1/4 c finely chopped onion
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tsp soy sauce, low sodium
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp fresh ground pepper
2 clove garlic, pressed

Steps:

  • 1. Mix all ingredients together then add the meat and mixing lightly (so you don't toughen it). You can shape into a loaf on a cookie sheet (with sides) lined with parchment paper. Cook uncovered at 350º for 1 hour if using (cookie sheet) or so. For the last ½ hour of cooking slather on Ketchup which thickens during cooking time and tastes great

This meatloaf is a bit too dry for my taste. I think I'll add a little more ketchup to the glaze next time.

I followed the recipe exactly and my meatloaf turned out dry and crumbly. I'm not sure what went wrong.
