3 BEAN BAKED BEANS image

Number Of Ingredients 10

5 bacon slices
1 green pepper, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 Tbs cider vinegar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 28oz traditional baked beans
1 can dark red kidney beans*
1 can garbanzo beans*
*can substitute with lima, black or any other bean to suit your preference or what you have on hand.

Steps:

  • Crisp bacon a pot large enough to hold the beans. Remove bacon and drain 1/2 of the drippings. Add green pepper, onion, garlic, vinegar and brown sugar to bacon drippings and sauté 10 minutes. Drain half the liquid from the kidney and garbanzo beans and add them with the baked beans to the onions and pepper. Stir to combine and cook gently for 30 minutes. Crumble bacon and add to beans just before serving.
