This was a real time saver years ago.When I came home from work, and dinner was hot and ready, in the oven. Original recipe from an A-1 advertisement,1950. My boys called it "GOUBASH" like a garbage dish! They loved it. Dad called it "GOULASHIE" like the goulashes you wore back then. Remember ???....LOL! This is a lot like the...

Number Of Ingredients 9

1-1/2 lb ground beef
1 medium clove of garlic...minced
3 Tbsp a-1 steak sauce
1-1/2 c elbow macaroni
1 can(s) (16oz) tomatoes.... chopped
1/2 c water, with a little catsup added
1 c tomato juice
1 tsp salt
1/4 c shredded cheddar cheese......optional

Steps:

  • 1. In a skillet brown beef till crumbly. Drain meat. Return meat to skillet. Add onion and garlic, cook till onion is soft.
  • 2. Stir in the remaining ingredients, but not the cheese
  • 3. Put all in a crockpot on low, for about 30-40 minutes.. till macaroni is cooked....no peeking! Add more water if needed. Keep it thick, and not soupy!
  • 4. Top with cheese.. if desired. Serve and enjoy., this simple, easy recipe. Serves 6
