RASPBERRY SWEET ICED TEA

RASPBERRY SWEET ICED TEA image

I just found this today on the Taste of Home newsletter which I receive online...I've had raspberry ice tea before, but always from flavored tea bags...this sounds great! You only need a handful of ingredients to make this refreshing drink...And I'll be making it for our picnic on Memorial Day!!!

Time 1h20m

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 qt water, divided
splenda (amt. to equal 1 c. sugar)
10 individual tea bags
12 oz frozen unsweetened raspberries, thawed & undrained
3 Tbsp lime juice

Steps:

  • 1. In a large saucepan, bring 2 qts. of water to boiling. Stir in Splenda til dissolved. Remove from the heat. Add tea bags; steep for 5-8 minutes, then discard.
  • 2. In another pan, bring raspberries and remaining water to boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 3 minutes. Strain and discard pulp. Add raspberry juice and lime juice to first mixture.
  • 3. Put in large pitcher and chill well.

Tips:

  • Use fresh raspberries: Fresh raspberries have the best flavor and will give your tea the most vibrant color. If you can't find fresh raspberries, you can use frozen raspberries, but be sure to thaw them before using.
  • Make a simple syrup: A simple syrup is a mixture of sugar and water that is heated until the sugar dissolves. It's a great way to sweeten your tea without adding any extra calories. To make a simple syrup, combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
  • Use loose-leaf tea: Loose-leaf tea is made from whole tea leaves, which gives it a richer flavor than tea bags. If you can, use loose-leaf tea for this recipe. If you don't have loose-leaf tea, you can use tea bags, but be sure to use good quality tea bags.
  • Let the tea steep for at least 4 hours: The longer you steep the tea, the stronger the flavor will be. For a light flavor, steep the tea for 4 hours. For a stronger flavor, steep the tea for 8 hours or overnight.
  • Serve the tea chilled: This tea is best served chilled. You can chill it in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or you can make it ahead of time and freeze it for up to 2 months.

Conclusion:

Raspberry Sweet Iced Tea is a refreshing and delicious drink that's perfect for summer. It's easy to make and can be customized to your liking. So next time you're looking for a thirst-quenching drink, give Raspberry Sweet Iced Tea a try!
