Ramos created the Ramos Fizz in 1888 at the Imperial Cabinet Saloon in New Orleans, Louisiana. This wonderful pick me up combines all the ingredients to get you up and running again. A little hair of the dog in the form of the gin, protein from the egg white, and cream to coat the stomach.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. This is especially important for the lime juice, which should be freshly squeezed.
  • If you don't have heavy cream, you can substitute milk or half-and-half. However, the heavy cream will give the Ramos Fizz a richer flavor and texture.
  • Make sure the egg white is at room temperature before you start shaking the cocktail. This will help it to foam up properly.
  • Shake the cocktail vigorously for at least 1 minute. This will help to incorporate air into the drink and create a smooth, frothy texture.
  • Strain the cocktail into a chilled glass. This will help to remove any ice chips or foam.
  • Garnish the cocktail with a lime wedge and a cherry. This will add a pop of color and flavor to the drink.
