EASY SHRIMP LO MEIN

Easy Shrimp Lo Mein image

Cheap and easy alternative to take out. Our kid loves ramen noodles, so this is a great way to make him eat his veggies without him even realizing it! You could make this with chicken, beef, or pork as well, just use the corresponding ramen soup flavor. I'm sure that a lot of people would also add sesame oil for more authentic flavor, but I find sesame oil overpowering (personal preference).

  • To serve, place noodles on serving plates.
  • Spoon the shrimp mixture over noodles and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.

Tips:

  • Use fresh shrimp: Fresh shrimp will give your ramen a more flavorful and succulent taste compared to frozen shrimp.
  • Marinate the shrimp: Marinating the shrimp in a mixture of soy sauce, rice wine, and ginger before cooking will add extra flavor and tenderness.
  • Don't overcook the shrimp: Shrimp cooks very quickly, so it's important to not overcook it or it will become tough and rubbery. Cook the shrimp for just a few minutes, until they are pink and opaque.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: This recipe uses broccoli, carrots, and bell peppers, but you can use any vegetables that you like. Some other good options include mushrooms, bok choy, and snap peas.
  • Use a good quality ramen noodle: The type of ramen noodle you use will make a big difference in the final dish. Look for a noodle that is firm and chewy, and that has a slightly alkaline flavor.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment: This recipe is a great starting point, but feel free to experiment with different ingredients and flavors to create your own unique ramen dish.

Conclusion:

This shrimp and vegetable ramen is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a quick and healthy lunch or dinner. The combination of shrimp, vegetables, and ramen noodles is sure to please everyone at the table.
