WALNUT, RAISIN, APPLE BARS
I made these yesterday and took them to a Labor Day Cookout and everyone thought they were delicious. I got the recipe from Family Circle Magazine, but I made a few changes. It called for dried apples but I used fresh ones and it didn't have walnuts in it, which I think goes so well with apples. This is going to be a keeper

RAISIN-WALNUT BARS
So Very Good !! The filling is chewy, moist and delicious. Kind of reminds me of Pecan Pie, not the taste, but the texture.

Steps:
- 1. Blend one cup flour, butter, 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 teaspoon salt with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture is evenly combined. Pat into bottom of a 13" x 9" baking pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden.
- 2. Mix remaining brown sugar, eggs, remaining flour, vanilla, baking powder, ginger or cinnamon and remaining salt in a medium bowl. Stir in walnuts and raisins. Pour raisin mixture over hot crust.
- 3. Bake an additional 20 to 25 minutes until top is golden and set. Cool completely and cut into bars.
Tips:
- Use fresh, high-quality ingredients for the best flavor.
- Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. This will help to incorporate air into the batter, resulting in a lighter, more tender bar.
- Be sure to measure your flour correctly. Too much flour can make the bars dry and crumbly.
- Do not overmix the batter. Overmixing can toughen the bars.
- Bake the bars until they are golden brown around the edges and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting them. This will help to prevent them from crumbling.
Conclusion:
Raisin walnut bars are a classic dessert that is perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With a few simple tips, you can make the best raisin walnut bars that everyone will love.
