Tips:

  • Use fresh, plump raisins. Avoid dry, shriveled raisins, as they will not rehydrate properly and will result in a dry, crumbly pie.
  • Soak the raisins in hot water for at least 30 minutes before using. This will help to plump them up and make them more flavorful.
  • Use a combination of spices to flavor the crumb topping. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger are all classic choices, but you can also experiment with other spices, such as cardamom, cloves, or allspice.
  • Don't overmix the crumb topping. Overmixing will result in a tough, dry topping. Just mix until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the pie until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. The pie is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Conclusion:

Raisin crumb pie is a classic dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With its sweet and tangy filling and its buttery crumb topping, raisin crumb pie is sure to be a hit at your next gathering.
