Tips:
- Use a flavorful cheese blend. A combination of sharp cheddar, Gruyère, and Parmesan cheese provides a rich and complex flavor.
- Cook the macaroni until it is al dente. This will prevent it from becoming mushy when it is baked.
- Make sure the sauce is thick and creamy. A good rule of thumb is to cook it until it coats the back of a spoon.
- Add the cheese gradually, stirring constantly. This will prevent the cheese from clumping.
- Top the casserole with breadcrumbs before baking. This will give it a golden brown crust.
- Bake the casserole until it is bubbly and golden brown. This usually takes about 30 minutes.
