Tips for Making Perfect Irish Soda Bread:

  • Use buttermilk that is at room temperature. This will help the bread rise properly.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the bread tough.
  • The dough should be slightly sticky. If it is too dry, add a little more buttermilk. If it is too wet, add a little more flour.
  • Don't let the dough rise for too long. The bread will become too sour.
  • Bake the bread in a preheated oven. This will help the bread rise evenly.
  • The bread is done when it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Let the bread cool slightly before slicing and serving.
