Steps:
- Add oil to a skillet on the stove top. Heat to medium-high heat. Once pan is hot, add the ground meat. Saute the meat, stirring occasionally, until browned. If your turkey or beef isn't very lean you may want to drain the grease. (I find that isn't necessary when using 93% lean.)
- Reduce heat to medium low. Add canned crushed tomatoes, water, tomato paste, garlic, oregano, basil, parsley, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and pepper to skillet with the meat. Stir to combine. Cover and gently simmer for 10 to 15 minutes or until everything is heated through and flavors have married.
- Serve over your favorite pasta, spaghetti squash (see my recipe for Roasted Spaghetti Squash), or zoodles. You can even add it to the top of roasted veggies for a satisfying but light meal!

Steps:
- In a large pan heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat until just shimmering. Add the onions, garlic, and finely grated carrots. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring regularly until softened.
- Add the crushed tomatoes and about 1/2 cup water. Add a generous pinch of salt and pepper. Stir in oregano, paprika, crushed pepper flakes, if using. Finally, stir in the fresh basil and parsley.
- Bring the sauce to a boil, then turn heat to low. Cover and let simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes. Check partway through, and if you feel the sauce is too thick, you can add a bit more water (preferably some of your pasta cooking water). When sauce is ready, throw in more fresh basil, if you like.
- If serving for dinner, add cooked pasta of your choice to the sauce. Mix to combine and let the pasta cook in the sauce over low heat for about 5 minutes.

Tips for Making the Best Quick-Fix Spaghetti Sauce:
- **Use fresh, ripe tomatoes:** The quality of your tomatoes will greatly impact the flavor of your sauce. Choose tomatoes that are free of blemishes and bruises, and that are a deep red color. - **Sauté your vegetables before adding them to the sauce:** This will help to release their flavor and create a more robust sauce. - **Use a variety of herbs and spices:** Italian seasoning, basil, oregano, and garlic are all classic additions to spaghetti sauce. Feel free to experiment with other herbs and spices to create your own unique flavor profile. - **Simmer your sauce for at least 30 minutes:** This will allow the flavors to meld and develop. The longer you simmer your sauce, the better it will taste. - **Add a little bit of sugar:** This will help to balance out the acidity of the tomatoes. - **Serve your sauce over your favorite pasta:** Spaghetti, penne, and linguine are all popular choices. You can also use your sauce to make lasagna, pizza, or chicken parmesan. Conclusion:
