GRANDMA'S CRANBERRY-ORANGE GELATIN SALAD
My grandmother made this salad every Thanksgiving. It is delicious even without its creamy topping. This side dish is so yummy, I sometimes make it even when it's not Thanksgiving! Depending on your salad's shape, you can spread the topping in a layer over the Jell-O; or if you use a ring mold, put the topping in the center. Alternately, you could serve the topping in a bowl on the side, so it's optional.

Tips:
- Select Fresh Cranberries: Use plump, firm cranberries for the best flavor and texture.
- Properly Prepare Cranberries: Rinse and sort cranberries thoroughly to remove any debris or damaged berries.
- Use High-Quality Gelatin: Opt for unflavored gelatin powder or sheets for a neutral taste that won't overpower the cranberry flavor.
- Chill Gelatin Mixture Properly: Refrigerate the gelatin mixture until it reaches a syrupy consistency, ensuring it's not too thick or runny.
- Incorporate Nuts and Fruits: Enhance the salad with chopped walnuts, pecans, or almonds, and consider adding diced oranges or apples for a refreshing twist.
- Serve Chilled: Allow the salad to chill for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving to achieve the perfect texture and flavor.
