Tips:

  • Be precise with measurements: For baking, precise measurements are crucial. Use a kitchen scale to measure ingredients accurately, especially for dry ingredients like flour and sugar.
  • Use room temperature ingredients: Room temperature ingredients combine more evenly and result in a better texture. Take out butter, eggs, and milk from the fridge at least 30 minutes before baking.
  • Cream butter and sugar properly: This step is essential for creating a light and fluffy texture. Cream the butter and sugar together until they are light and fluffy, and the sugar has dissolved.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing can lead to tough, dense bars. Mix the batter only until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Bake the bars until they are set: The bars should be golden brown around the edges and a toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
