4 large eggs, room temperature
4 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
2-1/2 cups sugar

1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3 cups diced peeled tart apples
2/3 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325°. In a bowl, beat oil, eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, salt, baking soda, cloves and baking powder; beat into the egg mixture. 1 cup applesauce
2 eggs
1 cup raisins

Steps:

1 1/2 c applesauce, unsweetened
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 c butter
1 c sugar
1 beaten egg
1 tsp cinnamon
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground cloves
2 c flour
1 c raisins

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • 2. grease loaf pan
  • 3. combine applesauce and baking soda in small bowl--set side.(this mixture sizzles and foams)
  • 4. cream butter and sugar in large bowl
  • 5. stir in egg, cinnamon, salt and cloves
  • 6. blend in applesauce mix (this will appear to be curdled).
