1 cup (227 grams) unsalted butter, melted until browned
1 cup (200 grams) packed light brown sugar
1/3 cup (60 grams) granulated sugar
3 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs plus 1 large egg yolk, at room temperature
2 and 1/3 cups (297 grams) all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 and 1/2 cups (9 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips, plus more for the top, if desired

  • Whisk in both sugars and mix until well combined. Stir in the vanilla. Then add in the eggs and egg yolk, beating until combined.
  • Using a rubber spatula, add in the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt, mixing until just combined. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips. Scrape the batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 28 to 32 minutes, or until the edges are firm and golden. Press extra chocolate chips on top of the warm blondies, if desired.
  • Cool in pan for at least 1 hour before cutting. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt before serving, if desired.

Time 45m

Yield 24 bars, 24 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 light brown sugar
4 tablespoons water
2 eggs
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (18 1/4 ounce) package yellow cake mix
3/4 cup walnuts, chopped
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease well a 9" x 13" baking pan.
  • In mixer bowl, cream together the butter and the sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the water, eggs, oil and vanilla extract; mix well. Add in the cake mix and mix well. Fold in the nuts and chocolate chips. Spread evenly into prepare pan.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until edges are golden and toothpick tests clean in middle.
  • Cool completely before cutting into squares.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate chips. This will make a big difference in the flavor of your bars. Look for chocolate chips that are made with real cocoa butter and have a high cacao content.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing will make the bars tough. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the dough before baking. This will help the bars hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much in the oven.
  • Bake the bars until they are just set. Overbaking will make the bars dry and crumbly. The bars are done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached.
  • Let the bars cool completely before cutting them. This will help them hold their shape and prevent them from falling apart.

Conclusion:

Chocolate chip bars are a classic dessert that everyone loves. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With a few simple tips, you can make chocolate chip bars that are perfect for any occasion.
