CREAM CHEESE APPLE PIE QUESADILLA

Cream Cheese Apple Pie Quesadilla image

This is so good! The cream cheese melts into the apple pie filling, and tastes almost custardy. I usually use wheat tortillas and light cream cheese because that's what we have in the house.

Time 5m

Yield 1 quesadilla

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 teaspoon butter, melted
1 medium white flour tortillas or 1 medium wheat flour tortilla
1 tablespoon cream cheese or 1 tablespoon light cream cheese
1/3 cup apple pie filling
cinnamon (optional)
whipped cream (optional)
powdered sugar (optional)
vanilla ice cream (optional)

Steps:

  • Spread cream cheese on one side of the tortilla, completely covering it, using more around the edges, as this will help seal in the pie filling.
  • Pour the filling on top of the cream cheese layer and cut apple slices into 1/2 inch pieces with a spoon or butterknife.
  • Sprinkle pie filling with cinnamon, if desired.
  • Fold tortilla over, gently pressing the edges to seal.
  • Brush one side with the melted butter, and put the tortilla, butter side down, into a skillet pre-heated to medium.
  • While that side is grilling, brush the unbuttered side with the remaining butter.
  • Grill until golden, flip, and grill the other side until golden.
  • Remove from skillet and serve with powdered sugar, whipped cream, ice cream, and additional cinnamon, if desired.

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 can of a good brand of apple pie filling.
2 large white tortillas
dusting of powdered sugar
light sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg
vanilla or carmel delight ice cream if desired

Steps:

  • 1. Take one tortilla and lay it flat on a small cutting board. Spoon the apple pie filling onto the tortilla to within a half inch from the edge of the tortilla. Put the second tortilla on top of the first one, like a sandwich.
  • 2. Heat up your quesadilla maker and slide the apple quesadilla onto the griddle and close the lid and cook for 5 minutes. If you don't have a quesadilla maker, you can melt a little butter in a large skillet, not too much, over medium heat and slide the quesadilla into the skillet and brown, then carefully flip the quesadilla and brown the other side. Remove hot quesadilla to the cutting board. Cut the quesadilla in 6 pieces, and dust with powdered sugar, and lightly sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg. Serve hot with or without ice cream. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Choose the right tortillas. Corn tortillas are the traditional choice for quesadilla pie, but you can also use flour tortillas. If you're using corn tortillas, be sure to heat them up in a skillet or on a griddle before filling them.
  • Don't overload the tortillas. When you're filling the tortillas, don't overload them or they'll be difficult to fold and seal. A good rule of thumb is to use about 1/2 cup of filling per tortilla.
  • Use a variety of fillings. Quesadilla pie is a great way to use up leftover ingredients. You can use any type of meat, cheese, or vegetables that you like. Some popular fillings include chicken, beef, cheese, beans, and corn.
  • Be creative with your toppings. Once you've assembled your quesadilla pie, you can top it with your favorite toppings. Some popular toppings include guacamole, salsa, sour cream, and shredded lettuce.

Conclusion:

Quesadilla pie is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that's perfect for any occasion. It's a great way to use up leftover ingredients, and it's also a fun and creative way to serve Mexican food. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give quesadilla pie a try.
