WEDDING PUNCH

Wedding Punch image

I've made this punch for several weddings, parties and showers and it always goes over well! From the 1986 Southern Living Annual Recipes. I haven't made it with champagne, but I am sure it would be delicous that way! Take time to make the ice ring; it really makes the punch perfect! If you need to make a lot of this, you can make the punch up to the point where you chill the base and instead freeze it. I've made enough for 100 people this way with good results. Also, the original recipe calls for a 28-ounce bottle of tonic water. I just always use the full 1 liter bottle. Preparation time includes a swag on how long it takes to make the ice ring. Cooking time is just the time to combine the base, ice ring and carbonated beverage.

Time 4h10m

Yield 6 quarts, 48 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 small oranges, sliced and seeded
1 (6 ounce) jar maraschino cherries
1 (1 liter) bottle ginger ale
1 (12 ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate, diluted
1 (46 ounce) can pineapple juice
1/4 cup lime juice
3/4 cup sugar
1 (1 liter) bottle tonic water, chilled
1 (2 liter) bottle ginger ale, chilled or 2 (25 1/2 ounce) bottles champagne

Steps:

  • Cut orange slices in half. Line bottom of a 6 1/2 cup ring mold with half of orange slices and cherries. (A Bundt pan works just fine for this although you may need more than 1 liter of ginger ale).
  • Pour in a thin layer of ginger ale, and freeze until firm.
  • Arrange remaining orange slices and cherries along side of ring mold, and pour in another thin layer of ginger ale. Freeze until firm.
  • Pour in remainder of ginger ale and freeze until firm.
  • Combine orange juice, pineapple juice, lime juice, and sugar, stirring until sugar dissolves. Chill mixture. (You can freeze here for use later).
  • Just before serving, pour chilled juice mixture into punch bowl; add tonic water, champagne or additional ginger ale, and ice ring.
  • If you freeze the base, let it thaw completely before making the punch.

PERFECT PURPLE PUNCH

Perfect Purple Punch image

This is my variation of a punch recipe from the Better Homes & Gardens cookbook. Raspberry everything! I've made it for several parties and potlucks and always have requests for the recipe. If I don't make it people get mad! I usually double or triple it and always have extra ginger-ale on hand to pour in when it gets thick. The dry ice is optional but makes for a very cool bubbly fog effect.

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 large container Welch's Grape Juice (It has to be Welch's or you are not going to get a good purple.)
1 large container pineapple juice
1 (2-liter) Sprite (We used Sprite Zero.)

Steps:

  • Mix all of the ingredients together in a large bowl and serve cold. Tip: Freeze a portion of the mixture in a few ice trays to keep the punch cold and prevent it from getting watered down with regular ice cubes.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh fruits and juices will give your punch the best flavor. Avoid using canned or frozen ingredients whenever possible.
  • Choose a variety of fruits: Don't be afraid to mix and match different fruits to create a unique and flavorful punch. Some good options include grapes, berries, pineapple, oranges, and lemons.
  • Add some herbs or spices: Herbs and spices can add a lot of flavor to your punch. Try adding a sprig of mint, a cinnamon stick, or a few cloves.
  • Sweeten to taste: The amount of sweetener you add to your punch will depend on your personal preferences. Start with a small amount and add more to taste.
  • Chill your punch before serving: Chilled punch is always more refreshing. Be sure to chill your punch for at least an hour before serving.
  • Garnish your punch with fresh fruit or herbs: A few slices of fruit or a sprig of mint can make your punch look even more inviting.
