Tips:

  • Use ripe prunes: Look for dark, plump prunes that are soft and moist. Avoid prunes that are dry, shriveled, or have a hard texture.
  • Pit the prunes: To pit the prunes, use a sharp knife to cut a slit down the side of each prune and remove the pit. You can also buy pitted prunes if you prefer.
  • Chop the prunes finely: Chop the prunes into small pieces so that they distribute evenly throughout the oatmeal bars. This will help ensure that every bite has a little bit of prune flavor.
  • Use old-fashioned oats: Old-fashioned oats are the best choice for oatmeal bars because they have a chewy texture that holds up well. Avoid using instant oats or quick oats, as they will make the bars too soft.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing the dough will make the bars tough. Mix the ingredients just until they are combined and no dry spots remain.
  • Press the dough firmly into the pan: This will help the bars stay together and prevent them from crumbling.
  • Bake the bars until they are golden brown: The bars are done baking when they are golden brown on top and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bars cool completely before cutting them: This will help prevent them from falling apart.

Conclusion:

Prune oatmeal bars are a delicious and healthy snack or breakfast option. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With their chewy texture, sweet prune flavor, and hearty oats, these bars are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
