Found in a supermarket booklet, it's easy to prepare and impressive enough for guests. Originally from the Emilia-Romagna region in Northern Italy, these long, thin breadstick appetizers are another reason to keep frozen puff pastry on hand. Tips:
- Use high-quality ingredients. The better the ingredients, the better the grissini will taste. Look for prosciutto that is thinly sliced and has a good flavor. Use a flavorful cheese, such as Parmesan or Asiago. And use fresh herbs, such as rosemary or thyme.
- Don't overwork the dough. Overworking the dough will make the grissini tough. Mix the dough just until it comes together. Then, let it rest for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out.
- Roll the dough out thinly. The thinner the dough, the crispier the grissini will be. Roll the dough out to about 1/8-inch thick.
- Don't crowd the grissini on the baking sheet. Leave some space between the grissini so that they can cook evenly.
- Bake the grissini until they are golden brown. The grissini are done baking when they are golden brown and crispy. This will take about 10-12 minutes.
Conclusion:
Prosciutto-wrapped grissini are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer. They are perfect for parties, potlucks, or just a snack. With a few simple ingredients and a little time, you can make these delicious treats that are sure to impress your friends and family.
