Time 45m

Yield 10 crepes, 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup apple butter
1/2 lb prosciutto, thinly sliced
2 granny smith apples, cored and thinly sliced
10 ounces brie cheese, sliced
1 bunch watercress or 1 bunch arugula
fresh ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Make the crepes from the recipe above (you'll only need 4 crepes). Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Brush olive oil on 2 baking sheets. Lay 2 crepes side-by-side on each baking sheet. Spread the apple butter on each crepe. Layer apples and prosciutto on each crepe slice. Bake for 10-12 minutes, rotating the baking sheets (top shelf to bottom shelf) halfway through until crisp like a thin pizza. Take the crepes out of the oven and lay a few slices of the brie on top so it melts slightly. Add a handful of watercress or baby lettuce and several turns of freshly ground black pepper.

BAKED BRIE WITH PROSCIUTTO AND APPLES

Baked Brie With Prosciutto and Apples image

This is perfect for a small gathering where you don't want to serve an entire wheel of brie. You can cut the ingredients down to the number you need since they are served individually on the slices of French bread. I found this online when I didn't want to do the old brie in puffed pastry recipe.

Tips:

  • For the best results, use high-quality ingredients. Look for prosciutto that is thinly sliced and has a nice, salty flavor. Brie cheese should be ripe but not too runny. If you're using apples, choose a variety that is sweet and crisp, such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith.
  • To make sure the calzone is cooked evenly, preheat the oven to the correct temperature before baking. Also, be sure to brush the calzone with olive oil or melted butter before baking to help it brown.
  • If you don't have a pizza stone, you can bake the calzone on a greased baking sheet. Just be sure to reduce the baking time by a few minutes.
  • Let the calzone cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This will help prevent the cheese from running out.

Conclusion:

Prosciutto and brie calzone with apple is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main course. It's perfect for a party or a casual get-together. With its combination of salty prosciutto, creamy brie, and sweet apples, this calzone is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
