Green beans are ready to be picked out in the garden. This is already the 2nd time they have been picked..What I love about making this is that you can make a large pot or small and do not have to adjust the time..I usually cook these in a pot on the stove for a few hours but the Electric pressure cooker cuts the time down so...

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 4

8 c more or less of fresh green beans
1/2 lb more or less of thick sliced bacon
1/8 c sugar, more or less to taste
salt and pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Wash, clean, snap green beans. Add green beans to your pot that comes with your electric pressure cooker and add enough water to just cover your green beans. I have made a full pot and half the pot and it takes the same amount of time.
  • 2. Shut lid and set timer for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, chopped bacon and brown in a small frypan.
  • 3. Brown bacon till crispy and set aside until the 5 min are up on the green beans.
  • 4. Release pressure and add all the bacon, grease too and the sugar. Stir and close lid and set timer for another 5 min.
  • 5. Let beans set in pressure cooker until dinner (keep warm setting) and salt and pepper to taste before you serve them..

Provided by á-75476

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 1/2 pounds fresh green beans, end removed, snapped in half and washed
3 to 4 slices bacon cut into 1-inch pieces
1/3 cup diced onion
Salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste
1/2 cup water

Steps:

  • Cook bacon in the bottom of the pressure cooker. Towards the end of cooking the bacon, add the onions and sauté for another minute or so. Add green beans and toss with the bacon so that the beans are lightly coated with some of the bacon grease. Add water. Cook beans for 5 minutes under pressure according to your pressure cooker directions. Season to taste.

Tips:

  • Choose tender, young green beans: Look for beans that are bright green and snap easily when bent. Avoid beans that are limp or have brown spots.
  • Trim the green beans: Remove the ends of the beans and any tough strings. You can also cut the beans into smaller pieces if desired.
  • Use a pressure cooker that is large enough to hold all of the ingredients: A 6-quart or larger pressure cooker is a good option.
  • Add enough liquid to the pressure cooker: The liquid should cover the green beans by at least 1 inch.
  • Season the green beans to taste: You can add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, or other seasonings to the pressure cooker.
  • Cook the green beans on high pressure for the recommended amount of time: The cooking time will vary depending on the type of pressure cooker you are using and the size of the green beans.
  • Quick-release the pressure: Once the cooking time is complete, release the pressure from the pressure cooker quickly by using the quick-release valve.
  • Serve the green beans immediately: Green beans are best served hot, but they can also be stored in the refrigerator for later use.

Conclusion:

Pressure-cooked green beans are a quick, easy, and delicious way to prepare this healthy vegetable. They are perfect for a busy weeknight meal or a special occasion dinner. With just a few simple ingredients and a few minutes of cooking time, you can have a delicious and nutritious side dish that the whole family will enjoy.
