Tips:
- Choose the right bread: A sturdy bread, such as ciabatta or sourdough, will hold up well to the pressed sandwich.
- Use thinly sliced ham and cheese: This will help the sandwich cook evenly.
- Add some moisture: A spread of butter or mayonnaise will help keep the sandwich from drying out.
- Don't overcrowd the pan: Cook the sandwiches in batches if necessary.
- Press the sandwiches: Use a panini press or a heavy skillet to press the sandwiches until they are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Serve immediately: Pressed sandwiches are best served hot.
