Tips for Making the Best Port Wine Cranberry Sauce
- **Use fresh cranberries.** Fresh cranberries are always the best choice for making cranberry sauce. They have a brighter flavor and a firmer texture than frozen or canned cranberries. - **Choose a good quality port wine.** The port wine you use will have a big impact on the flavor of your sauce. Look for a port wine that is rich and fruity, with a smooth finish. - **Simmer the sauce until it thickens.** The sauce should be simmered for at least 15 minutes, or until it has thickened to your desired consistency. Be sure to stir the sauce frequently to prevent it from burning. - **Add sugar to taste.** The amount of sugar you add to the sauce will depend on your personal preference. Start with a small amount of sugar and add more to taste. - **Serve the sauce warm or cold.** Cranberry sauce can be served warm or cold. If you are serving it warm, reheat it gently over low heat until it is warmed through. Conclusion
