CHEESE AND PORT DIP FOR APPLES

Cheese and Port Dip for Apples image

This is a very adult appetizer or snack food and great for entertaining. Try to use a good Port. I use MacLaren's Imperial Sharp Cold Pack Cheddar cheese. Serve with Granny Smith apples dipped in lemon juice.

PORT AND CHEESE DIP

Port and Cheese Dip image

I refer to this as an adult dip because of the Port. Whatever, it is very potent and wonderful if you like sharp flavors. I think I found it many years ago in an old army cookbook.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality port: A good quality port will make all the difference in the flavor of your dip. Look for a port that is rich and fruity, with a deep red color.
  • Don't overcook the cheese: The cheese should be melted and smooth, but not overcooked. Overcooked cheese will be tough and rubbery.
  • Serve the dip immediately: This dip is best served immediately, while the cheese is still warm and melted.
  • Pair the dip with your favorite crackers or bread: This dip is perfect for pairing with crackers, bread, or even fruit.
