Time 1h35m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 lbs thick pork chops
1 onion, cut into thin slices
1 lemon, cut in thin slices
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Season pork chops with salt and place in large baking dish.
  • Top each pork chop with an onion slice and a lemon slice.
  • Mix brown sugar and ketchup; spoon a couple of tablespoons over each chop.
  • Cover and bake 1 hour.
  • Uncover and bake 30 minutes longer, basting occasionally.

Tips:

  • Choose the right pork chops: Select bone-in pork chops that are at least 1-inch thick. This will help them stay juicy during cooking.
  • Season the pork chops well: Pork chops can handle bold flavors, so don't be afraid to use a variety of herbs and spices. Some good options include garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cumin, and chili powder.
  • Sear the pork chops before baking: Searing the pork chops in a hot skillet before baking them will help to develop a nice crust and lock in the juices.
  • Use a flavorful sauce: A good sauce can really elevate the flavor of pork chops. Some good options include a creamy mushroom sauce, a tangy barbecue sauce, or a sweet and sour sauce.
  • Don't overcook the pork chops: Pork chops are best when they are cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Overcooking will make them dry and tough.

Conclusion:

Pork chops are a versatile and delicious cut of meat that can be cooked in a variety of ways. By following the tips above, you can make sure that your pork chops turn out juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.
