Tips:

  • Brining the pork chops: This step helps tenderize the meat and adds flavor. The longer you brine the pork chops, the more flavorful they will be. If you don't have time to brine them overnight, you can brine them for a shorter period of time, such as 30 minutes or 1 hour.
  • Cooking the pork chops: Sear the pork chops in a hot skillet until they are browned on both sides. This will help to lock in the flavor and prevent the pork chops from drying out. Then, reduce the heat and cook the pork chops over medium-low heat until they are cooked through.
  • Using a meat thermometer: This is the best way to ensure that the pork chops are cooked to the proper temperature. Insert the meat thermometer into the thickest part of the pork chop. The pork chops are done when they reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Making the sour cream sauce: This sauce is simple to make and adds a delicious tangy flavor to the pork chops. Simply combine the sour cream, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and minced garlic in a bowl. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serving the pork chops: Serve the pork chops with the sour cream sauce and roasted potatoes. You can also serve the pork chops with other sides, such as rice, pasta, or vegetables.

Conclusion:

Pork chops and potatoes with sour cream is a classic dish that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. The pork chops are tender and juicy, the potatoes are roasted to perfection, and the sour cream sauce adds a delicious tangy flavor. This dish is perfect for any occasion, whether it's a weeknight dinner or a special occasion meal.
