POPCORN SNACK MIX (NO NUTS)

Popcorn Snack Mix (No Nuts) image

Adapted from Go for your life, I wanted a toddler friendly snack mix that would kind of fit the Halloween theme. I came up with this colourful combo. I also added some "Cocoa rocks" to this which added to the effect to look like stones. The kids devoured this at playgroup. You could also adapt this to fit the xmas theme by substituting apricots for dried cherries and adding some dried kiwi, dried peas or a lolly such as mint leaves or green smarties or M+M's.

HONEY-SESAME POPCORN SNACK MIX RECIPE - (4/5)

Honey-Sesame Popcorn Snack Mix Recipe - (4/5) image

Provided by MHWilliams

Number Of Ingredients 7

6 cups popped Orville Redenbacher's Gourmet Kettle Korn Microwave Popcorn
3 cups crispy corn cereal squares
1 cup mini pretzel twists
1 cup dry roasted mixed nuts
1/4 cup honey
3 tablespoons Fleischmann's Original stick margarine, melted
2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 300°F. Combine popcorn, cereal, pretzels and nuts in large bowl. Stir together honey, Fleischmann's and sesame seeds in small bowl. Pour over popcorn mixture. Stir well to coat all pieces. Pour into 15 by 10 inch shallow baking pan. Bake 30 minutes, stirring once after 15 minutes. Transfer to waxed paper to cool. Stir before serving to break up clumps. Store remaining mix in tightly sealed container up to 1 week.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Popcorn: Use fresh, unpopped popcorn kernels for the best results. Avoid pre-popped or microwave popcorn, as they may not have the right texture or flavor.
  • Season the Popcorn Generously: Don't be afraid to add a generous amount of seasoning to the popcorn. This will help to enhance the flavor and make it more enjoyable.
  • Use a Variety of Mix-Ins: Feel free to mix and match different types of nuts, seeds, pretzels, and candies to create a unique and flavorful snack mix.
  • Don't Overcrowd the Pan: When popping the popcorn, make sure not to overcrowd the pan. This will help to ensure that the popcorn pops evenly and doesn't burn.
  • Store Properly: Store the popcorn snack mix in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. This will help to keep it fresh and crispy.

Conclusion:

Making popcorn snack mix is a fun and easy way to create a delicious and satisfying snack.
