Time 1h20m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, crushed
4 tablespoons RED GOLD® Tomato Paste
2 (14.5 ounce) cans RED GOLD® Petite Diced Tomatoes with Garlic & Olive Oil
1 teaspoon red pepper
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar

1 (8 ounce) tube crescent roll sheets, or refrigerated pizza crust
1 (8 ounce) package shredded pizza cheese
1 cup assorted vegetables (green pepper, onion, mushrooms, and spinach leaves)

Steps:

  • Spicy Pizza Sauce: Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the onions and saute until they are soft, about 4 minutes. Add the garlic and wine; cook for an additional minute.
  • Stir in tomato paste, diced tomatoes, red pepper, salt and black pepper. Reduce the heat and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes or until thickened. Stir in the vinegar; cool. Freeze leftover pizza sauce for a future Pizza Stromboli or regular pizza.
  • Pizza Stromboli: Makes 1 large Stromboli. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Remove crescent roll sheet from tube and place on sheet of parchment paper. Roll dough into a 10x14-inch rectangle. Place on baking sheet.
  • Spread 1/2 of cheese down the center third of the dough. Top with 1 cup Spicy Pizza Sauce and 1 cup of chopped vegetables. Top with remaining cheese.

PIZZA STROMBOLI

I found this one several years ago in a Taste of Home magazine. We LOVE it! It was submitted to them by John Morcom from Oxford, Michigan. He says "I used to own a bakery, and this bread was one of our customers' favorites. Once they smelled the aroma of pizza and sampled these tempting spiral slices, they just couldn't resist taking some home." Start early and be sure to allow enough time for the dough to rise! I make the dough in my bread machine but there are directions for making it by hand.

Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 can(s) refrigerated thin crust pizza dough
1 can(s) tomato sauce
1/2 c shredded mozarella cheese
1/4 lb pepperoni thin sliced
1/4 tsp italian seasoning
1/2 c chopped black olives and onions(optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven 375 degrees. Prepare cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • 2. Unroll the pizza crust ontoa lightly floured board. It should be in a rectangle.
  • 3. Spread the dough with the tomato sauce. Next sprinkle the pizza seasoning over it. Lay the pepperoni on next. On top of the meat, add the shredded cheese and vegetables if you are using them.
  • 4. Carefully roll the dough long side in. Move it to the cookie sheet. Cut a few slits in the top of the roll to let steam escape.
  • 5. Bake in 375 degree oven until turing brown. My oven was about 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before slicing and eating. I always make more than one at a time.

Tips:

  • For the best results, use fresh pizza dough. If you don't have time to make your own, you can buy pre-made dough from the store.
  • Use high-quality ingredients. Fresh vegetables, meats, and cheeses will make a big difference in the flavor of your stromboli.
  • Don't overload the stromboli with toppings. Too many toppings will make it difficult to fold and seal the dough.
  • Be careful not to overcook the stromboli. The dough should be golden brown and the cheese should be melted and bubbly.
  • Let the stromboli cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This will help the cheese to set and prevent it from running out.

Conclusion:

Pizza stromboli is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a party or a quick weeknight dinner. With a few simple tips, you can make a stromboli that is sure to impress your family and friends.
