Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (16 ounce) package uncooked elbow pasta
3 cups (about 25.5 ounces) marinara sauce
3 cups water
1 (5 ounce) package mini pepperoni, divided ((or substitute with regular or turkey pepperoni, chopped))
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup shredded mozzarella
Optional: Parmesan cheese and fresh chopped parsley or basil, for garnish

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Spray a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  • In the prepared baking dish (or in a separate bowl), stir together uncooked pasta, marinara sauce, water, about ¾ of the package of pepperoni, and salt. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove dish from oven, take off cover, and give the pasta a stir. At this point it should be almost done, but still a bit firm ("al dente").
  • Sprinkle mozzarella over the top and place remaining pepperoni slices on top of the cheese. Return the dish to the oven and bake, uncovered, for about 5-10 more minutes (or until cheese is melted and pasta is tender).
  • Garnish with optional grated Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs, if desired

This is my granddaughter's most requested meal when she comes to visit. It's a meal in itself, but a salad would go nice with it. Have fun experimenting with your favorite pizza toppings.

Tips

  • Use a variety of toppings: Pizza is a versatile dish that can be topped with almost anything. Get creative and experiment with different flavor combinations. Some classic topping combinations include pepperoni and cheese, sausage and peppers, and mushrooms and onions.
  • Don't overload the pizza with toppings: While it's tempting to pile on the toppings, it's important to remember that less is more. Too many toppings can make the pizza soggy and difficult to eat.
  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients: The quality of your ingredients will make a big difference in the taste of your pizza. Whenever possible, use fresh, high-quality ingredients. This includes using fresh vegetables, real cheese, and high-quality meats.
  • Cook the pizza at a high temperature: Pizza should be cooked at a high temperature in order to get a crispy crust. The ideal temperature for cooking pizza is between 450 and 500 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the pizza cool for a few minutes before slicing: Once the pizza is cooked, let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. This will help prevent the toppings from sliding off.

Conclusion

Pizza is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With a little planning and effort, you can make a delicious pizza at home that rivals anything you would find at a restaurant. So what are you waiting for? Get started today!
