I can never get enough of these cookies. They are very "almond" in taste with lots of butter flavor, soft in texture, and a delightful cookie to savor! 1 c butter, softened
2 c sugar
3 eggs
4 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
2 tsp almond extract
green or red food coloring

Steps:

  • 1. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time; add almond extract. Fold in dry ingredients. Sprinkle a small amount of food coloring into batter and gently swirl with a knife. Chill one hour.
  • 2. Drop by spoonfuls on baking sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Note: They will not look done (do not over bake). Glaze while cookies are hot. Add colored sugar spinkles if desired.
  • 3. Glaze: Mix together 1 cup of powdered sugar, 1 1/2 tbs. melted butter, 1 to 2 tbs. of milk, and 1/2 tsp. almond extract. Add more sugar or milk if needed for drizzling consistancy.

1 cup margarine
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoons almond extract
4 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon salt
red food coloring
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 teaspoons evaporated milk
1 tablespoon evaporated milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream margarine and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition. Add almond extract, flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt. Add a few drops of red food coloring to the dough and swirl through mixture. Do not over mix. Chill dough thoroughly.
  • Roll chilled dough into balls and place on greased cookie sheet. Flatten balls slightly. Bake for exactly 10 minutes. While cookies are baking, mix together the glaze ingredients. Glaze cookies while warm.

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
10 drops red food coloring
10 drops green food coloring

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a small bowl combine flour baking powder and cardamon.
  • In a large bowl beat butter until softened, add sugar beat until fluffy.
  • Add egg and vanilla to butter mixture, mix well.
  • Gradually add flour mixture into butter mixture, beating till well mixed.
  • Divide dough into thirds.
  • Stir red food color into 1 third, green into another third, leave remaining third plain.
  • Cover each and refrigerate 1 hour.
  • Take a pinch of each color dough to make 1 1/2 inch ball.
  • Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Flatten to 1/4 inch thick with a glass dipped in sugar.
  • Bake 8 minutes at 350, until egde is just starting to become golden color.
  • Remove and cool on rack.

1 (18 1/4 ounce) box Betty Crocker super moist white cake mix
1 1/4 cups water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 egg whites
2 teaspoons almond extract
6 drops red food coloring
4 ounces white almond bark, chopped
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 -2 drop red food coloring
1/2 cup butter, softened or 1/2 cup margarine
1/4 cup shortening
1 teaspoon almond extract
4 cups powdered sugar
4 -5 tablespoons milk

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Spray bottom and sides of 2 (9- or 8-inch) round cake pans with baking spray with flour. In large bowl, beat cake ingredients, including 2 teaspoons almond extract and 6 drops food color, as directed on box. Pour into pans.
  • Bake as directed on box for 9- or 8-inch rounds pans or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes. Remove from pans to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
