PINEAPPLE WASSAIL

Pineapple Wassail image

I love tea and pineapple juice, but had never had them like this together. This was a wonderful switch from my apple cider recipe I usually make.

Provided by Redneck Epicurean

Categories     Punch Beverage

Time 30m

Yield 7 1/2 c. servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 1/2 cups water
2 orange pekoe tea bags, regular size
3/4 cup pineapple juice
1 (6 ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
3 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick

Steps:

  • Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan. Add tea bags and cover; steep 10 minutes and discard tea bags.
  • Add the remaining ingredients in the saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat for 15 minutes or until well heated.
  • Discard cloves and cinnamon stick and pour into mugs.

Tips:

  • Use fresh pineapple: Fresh pineapple imparts the best flavor to the wassail. If you can't find fresh pineapple, you can use frozen or canned pineapple, but the flavor will be less pronounced.
  • Choose a good quality apple cider: The apple cider is the base of the wassail, so it's important to choose a good quality one. Look for a cider that is made with 100% apple juice and has no added sugar.
  • Add spices to taste: The spices in the wassail are optional, but they add a lot of flavor. You can use any combination of spices that you like, but some popular choices include cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and ginger.
  • Simmer the wassail for at least 30 minutes: This will allow the flavors to meld and develop. You can simmer the wassail for longer if you want a more intense flavor.
  • Serve the wassail warm: Wassail is traditionally served warm, but you can also serve it cold. If you're serving it cold, be sure to chill it for at least 2 hours before serving.

Conclusion:

Pineapple cider wassail is a delicious and festive drink that is perfect for the holiday season. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste. So gather your friends and family around and enjoy a warm cup of wassail this holiday season.
