Tips:

  • Use fresh pineapple for the best flavor. If you can't find fresh pineapple, you can use canned pineapple, but be sure to drain it well.
  • Don't overcook the pineapple. It should be soft but still have a little bit of a bite to it.
  • Use a store-bought angel food cake mix to save time. If you want to make your own angel food cake from scratch, you can use this recipe.
  • Be careful not to overbeat the egg whites. They should be stiff but not dry.
  • Bake the pie in a water bath to prevent the crust from becoming too brown.
  • Let the pie cool completely before serving. This will help the filling to set.
