PICNIC LEMONADE

Picnic Lemonade image

Great for taking along on a picnic, or to the beach on those hot summer days! I only made a half recipe in the pic I posted but it is easy to adjust to however many servings you need. I noticed the bigger lemons at the market I have been seeing lately give off a lot of juice, so you may only require 1/2-2/3 as many, but the juice total you measure should be the same.

Time 9h15m

Yield about 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 4

6 bags hibiscus tea
Frozen raspberries, for garnish
1 quart store-bought lemonade
Lemon wedges, for garnish

Steps:

  • Bring 1 1/2 quarts water to a boil in a small pot over high heat. Remove from the heat and add the tea bags. Cover and let steep between 1 and 1 1/2 hours. Discard the tea bags, then place the hibiscus tea in the refrigerator to cool completely.
  • Place 2 or 3 frozen raspberries into each compartment of an empty ice cube tray. Using 2 cups of the tea, add enough cooled hibiscus tea to submerge the raspberries and place in the freezer 8 hours or up to overnight.
  • Combine the lemonade with 1 quart chilled hibiscus tea in a large pitcher and stir to combine. Pour over raspberry ice cubes and serve with lemon wedges.

PICNIC LEMONADE

Picnic Lemonade image

Super refreshing and cooling for a hot summer day. Perfect to keep on hand for an afternoon picnic or to cool off after yard work. We used the wildflower honey and loved it. The honey adds an aromatic, flowery scent. It gives this lemonade such a fresh taste. But, if you don't have honey on hand, it would be just as refreshing...

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 4

12 lemons; squeezed
3 quarts chilled spring water
1 1/4 cups sugar or 1 cup wildflower honey or 1 cup honeysuckle syrup
sprigs of fresh mint or lemon balm for garnish

Steps:

  • 1. Heat the lemon juice and sugar (or honey) over medium heat in a saucepan until the sugar/honey completely dissolves. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • 2. In a gallon container, stir together the lemon mixture with the spring water.
  • 3. Fill glasses with ice. Add a sprig of mint or lemon balm and pour in the lemonade.

Tips:

  • Choose the right lemons: Meyer lemons are sweeter and less acidic than regular lemons, making them a good choice for picnic lemonade. If you can't find Meyer lemons, use regular lemons and add a little more sugar or honey to taste.
  • Use fresh-squeezed lemon juice: Fresh-squeezed lemon juice has a brighter flavor than bottled lemon juice. If you don't have a lemon juicer, you can use a fork to extract the juice from the lemons.
  • Make a simple syrup: A simple syrup helps to dissolve the sugar and add sweetness to the lemonade. To make a simple syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then remove from heat and let cool.
  • Chill the lemonade before serving: Cold lemonade is more refreshing than warm lemonade. Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  • Add garnishes: Lemon slices, mint leaves, and cucumber slices are all refreshing garnishes for picnic lemonade.

Conclusion:

Picnic lemonade is a classic summer drink that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious and refreshing lemonade that will be the perfect addition to your next picnic. So next time you're planning a picnic, be sure to add picnic lemonade to your menu!
