PESTO TORTE
This fabulous torte can be made without the sun-dried tomatoes. The combination of cream cheese and pesto is mouth-watering. The original recipe comes from Ann Hodgman's Beat This cookbook. I reduced the amount of butter used, and I like to make it in a loaf pan rather than custard cups! You can use basil or artichoke pesto, and I often use dry packed tomatoes but reduce the quantity by half.

- If you don't have pine nuts, you can substitute walnuts or almonds in the pesto sauce.
- Use a good quality olive oil in the pesto sauce. This will make a big difference in the flavor of the sauce.
- Make sure to chill the pesto sauce for at least 30 minutes before using it. This will help the flavors to develop.
- Spread the pesto sauce on the bread or crackers evenly. This will help to ensure that each bite has a good amount of flavor.
- Layer the ingredients on the torta in the order that they are listed in the recipe. This will help to ensure that the torta is evenly flavored.
- Bake the torta for the amount of time specified in the recipe. This will help to ensure that the torta is cooked through.
- Let the torta cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This will help to prevent the torta from falling apart.
Conclusion:
The pesto torta is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack. It is perfect for parties or potlucks. The pesto sauce is flavorful and creamy, and the combination of ingredients in the torta is sure to please everyone.
