Tips:
- Use fresh coconut milk. Fresh coconut milk is more flavorful and aromatic than canned coconut milk. If you can find it, use it.
- Rinse the rice. Rinsing the rice removes the starch, which helps to prevent the rice from sticking together.
- Use the right amount of liquid. The ratio of rice to liquid is important for getting the perfect consistency. For coconut rice, the ratio is 1 cup of rice to 1 1/2 cups of liquid.
- Cook the rice over low heat. Cooking the rice over low heat helps to prevent the rice from burning or sticking to the pot.
- Do not stir the rice while it is cooking. Stirring the rice while it is cooking can break up the grains and make the rice mushy.
- Let the rice rest before serving. Letting the rice rest before serving allows the rice to absorb the flavors of the coconut milk and other ingredients.
