Time 3m

Number Of Ingredients 2

1 Lemon (cut in half)
2 Soft peppermint stick

Steps:

  • Slice a lemon in half around the circumference. Some people cut the top third off but I find that the short sticks do better in half a lemon. Also, if this is a fundraiser you have a better profit margin if you can sell 1 vs. the one.
  • Use a little knife to make a small X in the center of the lemon and press the soft peppermint stick into the center.

PEPPERMINT LEMON

Peppermint Lemon image

I fondly remember my Grandmother giving us lemons with peppermint sticks in them for a treat. We would sit out on the porch and suck on those all afternoon. They were sooooo good! A few years ago, my sister was in charge of the concessions at her daughter's basketball games. She bought several pounds of lemons and peppermint...

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 2

1 large lemon
1 stick soft peppermint stick

Steps:

  • 1. It is very important you use the soft peppermint sticks, not the hard "candy cane" variety! I usually get "Bob's Old Fashioned Peppermint" sticks at Walmart.
  • 2. Wash whole lemons in warm water. Roll lemon back and forth on clean counter to increase juice.
  • 3. On upper end of lemon, cut a small hole in rind just big enough to push a peppermint stick into.
  • 4. Hold lemon firmly in both hands and gently squeeze while sucking on the end of the peppermint stick. It may take a few strong sucks but soon the lemon juice will come up through the peppermint (like a straw). The perfect lemonade!
  • 5. The peppermint may dissolve before you get all the juice out of the lemon, but just push another piece of peppermint down inside and continue to enjoy!

Tips:

  • Choose the right peppermint: Use fresh peppermint leaves for the best flavor. You can also use dried peppermint, but it will be less flavorful.
  • Use a microplane grater to zest the lemon: This will give you the finest zest, which will release the most flavor.
  • Don't boil the lemons: Boiling the lemons will make them bitter. Simmer them gently over low heat to extract the flavor without bitterness.
  • Let the mixture cool completely before straining: This will allow the flavors to meld and develop.
  • Serve the lemonade chilled: Peppermint lemon lemonade is best served cold. You can chill it in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight, or you can serve it over ice.

Conclusion:

Peppermint lemon lemonade is a refreshing and flavorful drink that is perfect for summer. It's easy to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Whether you're looking for a thirst-quenching drink to enjoy on a hot day or a flavorful beverage to serve at your next party, peppermint lemon lemonade is a great choice. So next time you're in the mood for something refreshing and delicious, give this recipe a try!
