Tips:
- Choose the right beef. Ground chuck or ground round are good options because they have a good amount of fat, which helps keep the meatloaf moist.
- Don't overmix the meatloaf mixture. Overmixing can make the meatloaf tough. Just mix until the ingredients are combined.
- Use fresh bread crumbs. Fresh bread crumbs will help keep the meatloaf moist and flavorful.
- Add vegetables to the meatloaf mixture. Vegetables like onions, celery, and carrots add flavor and moisture to the meatloaf.
- Season the meatloaf mixture well. Use a variety of spices and herbs to flavor the meatloaf, such as garlic, onion, paprika, and thyme.
- Bake the meatloaf in a loaf pan. This will help the meatloaf hold its shape and cook evenly.
- Baste the meatloaf with ketchup or barbecue sauce during the last 15 minutes of baking. This will help keep the meatloaf moist and flavorful.
