I came across this recipe when I was cooking in a restaurant & took away some things in it & added some more things in it to make it my own.It was one of my regular House salads.

1 large head shredded cabbage
2 medium red delicious apples, cored, & chopped (don't peel)
1 c seedless red and / or green grapes, cut in half
1/2 large red onion, cut in thin slivers
1 c raisins
dressing:
1 c real mayonnaise
6 Tbsp sugar
6 Tbsp cider vinegar
6 Tbsp pocohontas honey mustard
2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp coarse ground blackpepper
**may need more or less dressing

Steps:

  • 1. In large bowl, combine 1st 5 ingredients & toss to mix.
  • 2. Mix all dressing ingredients with a wire wisk.
  • 3. Pour over slaw. **May not need all of dressing or may need more. I used to make big batches of this & never really measured things so had to come up with some kind of measurements. Put quite a bit of dressing on it , but don't make it swim in it.Refrigerate.

I started making this about 26 years ago when someone brought it to a pot luck dinner at church. My family loves it. I also served it in one of the restaurants I cooked at. This goes well with Burritos & spanish rice or tacos or just eat by itself.

1 - head iceberg lettuce torn into bite size pieces
1 can(s) pinto beans, rinsed & drained good
1/2 cup(s) green onions, chopped
1 large tomato, chopped
1 cup(s) shredded cheddar cheese
1 bottle(s) catalina dressing
1 - bag regular fritos (not scoops)

Steps:

  • Mix all but Catalina & Fritos in large bowl. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
  • Just before serving, add enough Catalina to just barely coat the salad, don't over do it. Now, put about 2 cups of Fritos in & stir. Do not crush Fritos. Serve immediately.

2 c cauliflower; chopped
2 c broccoli; chopped
1/2 lb bacon; cut in bite-size pieces & cooked & drained
1 pt cherry tomatoes (split in half, lengthwise)
1/2 each - red, green bell peppers, chopped
8 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese
ranch dressing (very little)
1 bunch green onions, chopped
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
FOR CHICKEN BREASTS
butter, melted
dash(es) chicken seasoning
dash(es) California style garlic salt with parsley

Steps:

  • 1. Grill chicken breasts. Brush with butter on the top side. Season with chicken seasoning & California Style Garlic Salt with Parsley.
  • 2. Cut into strips & then into smaller bite-size pieces. Set aside.
  • 3. Cook bacon. Crumble into bite-size pieces.
  • 4. Combine all other ingredients in large bowl. Use as little ranch dressing as possible. You don't want it swimming in it. You only want it to coat it & flavor it.
  • 5. Add the chicken & toss to coat.
  • 6. Chill at least 2 hours before serving. If you think you might need a little more dressing at this time, go ahead & add some.
