Tips:

  • Use stale bread: Stale bread works best for bread pudding because it absorbs more custard and results in a denser, richer pudding.
  • Choose your bread wisely: Different types of bread will result in different textures and flavors. For a classic bread pudding, use a white bread like French or Italian bread. For a more rustic flavor, use a whole wheat or multigrain bread. And for a sweet bread pudding, use a sweet bread like challah or brioche.
  • Use a variety of spices: Spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves add warmth and flavor to bread pudding. Feel free to experiment with different spices to create your own unique flavor profile.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter can result in a tough, dense bread pudding. Mix the ingredients just until they are combined.
  • Bake the bread pudding in a water bath: Baking the bread pudding in a water bath helps to create a moist, evenly cooked pudding.
  • Serve the bread pudding warm with a sauce: Bread pudding is best served warm with a sauce. Some popular sauces include vanilla sauce, caramel sauce, and fruit sauce.

Conclusion:

Peggy's Bread Pudding with Lemon Sauce is a classic dessert that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser.
