Tips:
- Measure ingredients accurately: Baking is a science, and precise measurements are essential for success. Use measuring cups and spoons that are specifically designed for dry and liquid ingredients, and level off each measurement with a knife or straight edge.
- Use fresh, high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the final product will be. Choose fresh, ripe pecans, and use high-quality butter, sugar, and flour.
- Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter can result in a tough, dry cake. Mix only until the ingredients are well combined.
- Bake the cake in a preheated oven: A preheated oven ensures that the cake bakes evenly. Preheat the oven to the desired temperature before you start mixing the batter.
- Let the cake cool completely before frosting it: This will help to prevent the frosting from melting or sliding off the cake.
