Tips:

  • Use fresh pecans. Fresh pecans have a more pronounced flavor and a softer texture than stale pecans. If you can, buy pecans in the shell and crack them yourself just before using them.
  • Toast the pecans. Toasting pecans brings out their flavor and makes them more fragrant. You can toast pecans in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes, or in a skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing the batter will make the cookies tough. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the dough before baking. Chilling the dough will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much in the oven.
  • Bake the cookies until they are just set. Overbaking the cookies will make them dry and crumbly. The cookies are done when the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.

Conclusion:

Pecan Dreams are a delicious and festive holiday cookie that are sure to be a hit with your family and friends. With their buttery shortbread crust, gooey pecan filling, and sweet whipped cream topping, these cookies are a perfect way to celebrate the season. So next time you're looking for a special treat to bake, give Pecan Dreams a try.
