WAR EAGLE BEAN PALACE PECAN COBBLER

War Eagle Bean Palace Pecan Cobbler image

This recipe is one of the signature desserts served at the Bean Palace Restaurant which is located inside the War Eagle Mill in Rogers, Arkansas. The mill was originally built in 1830 and is still a working water-powered grist mill. All corn and grains that are milled there are organically grown. This recipe is definitely not for anyone on any kind of diet, but if you are not worried about fats, carbs, sugars or calories then by all means try this recipe. Pecan Cobbler is one of the most delicious and rich desserts I have ever tried. Small servings are recommended. It is very similar to pecan pie. The oat flour used in the crust is simple to make by placing 1 cup of regular oatmeal into your blender and blending until it resembles powder. This also works in a food processor.

PECAN COBBLER

Pecan Cobbler image

I started making this when I needed to make more than just one pie. It's practically the same thing except presented a little different. It is great served with ice cream and drizzled with warm caramel.

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 c maple syrup (light corn syrup will work)
3 c granulated sugar
1/3 c melted butter or margerine
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
6 eggs
3 c pecans, roughly chopped
1 your favorite pie crust, rolled into 9 x 13-inch rectangle

Steps:

  • 1. Heat the oven to 350 F. Spray 9 x 13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • 2. In a medium bowl, combine syrup, sugar, butter, vanilla and eggs.
  • 3. I use a package of the prepared pie crusts. I just let them get to room temperature, unroll them and knead them together and roll them out to the desired rectangle size.
  • 4. Pour 1/3 of mixture into the baking dish. Lay the crust on top of the mixture.
  • 5. Stir pecans into remaining mixture and pour on top of the crust.
  • 6. Bake for 50 or 60 minutes or until center is nearly set.

Tips:

- To obtain the most delectable pecan cobbler, employ premium-quality ingredients. Utilize authentic butter and fresh eggs. Select plump, substantial pecans and evade those that are withered or cracked. - For a crunchy topping, utilize a combination of oats, flour, sugar, and butter. Alternatively, for an extra-special touch, include a streusel topping composed of brown sugar, flour, butter, and cinnamon. - Do not overcrowd the baking dish with excessive amounts of pecans or batter; this can impede even cooking and result in a soggy cobbler. - If your oven does not possess a reliable temperature gauge, invest in an oven thermometer to ensure accurate measurements. - To prevent a runny cobbler, ascertain that the filling has thickened sufficiently prior to removing it from the oven. Insert a toothpick into the center; if it emerges clean, the cobbler is ready. - Indulge in your delectable pecan cobbler either warm or at room temperature, topped with a dollop of whipped cream, ice cream, or a drizzle of caramel sauce.

Indulge your taste buds with the irresistible pecan cobbler, a classic dessert that exudes Southern charm and comfort. Whether you prefer a traditional recipe or one with a modern twist, this delightful treat, characterized by its flaky crust, gooey filling, and crunchy topping, is sure to satisfy your sweet cravings.
