Tips:

  • Prepare the bundt pan: To ensure the cake comes out of the pan cleanly, grease and flour the pan thoroughly. You can also use a non-stick cooking spray.
  • Measure ingredients accurately: Baking is a precise science, so measuring ingredients correctly is important. Use measuring cups and spoons for accurate measurements.
  • Use room temperature butter: Room temperature butter is easier to mix and cream with sugar. If you don't have time to wait for the butter to come to room temperature, you can microwave it on low power for a few seconds, stirring every 10 seconds until the butter is softened.
  • Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy: This step is essential for incorporating air into the batter, which will make the cake light and airy. Cream the butter and sugar together for at least 2 minutes until the mixture is pale yellow and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time: Gradually add the eggs to the batter, one at a time, to prevent the batter from curdling. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl before adding them to the batter.
  • Add the dry ingredients in three additions: Whisking the dry ingredients together before adding them to the batter helps to evenly distribute the ingredients and prevent the batter from becoming lumpy. Add the dry ingredients in three additions, alternating with the buttermilk.
  • Fold in the pecan chips: Gently fold the pecan chips into the batter until they are evenly distributed. Do not overmix the batter, as this can result in a tough cake.
  • Bake the cake according to the recipe instructions: The baking time will vary depending on the size and shape of the cake pan. Use a toothpick to test the cake for doneness. The cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
