Time 1h25m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 c creamy peanut butter
3/4 c caramel flavored ice cream topping
3 Tbsp packed brown sugar
3 c apple-cinnamon flavor round toasted oat cereal (apple jacks)
1 c coarsely chopped dried apples
1/2 c salted peanuts, coarsely chopped

Steps:

  • 1. Line an 8x8x2-inch baking pan with foil, extending foil up over edges of pan. Butter or spray the foil. In a large saucepan combine 3/4 cup of the peanut butter, 1/2 cup of the ice cream topping, and the brown sugar. Cook and stir over medium beat just until mixture starts to bubble.
  • 2. Remove from heat. Add cereal and apples; stir gently to coat. Transfer to prepared pan; press firmly into pan.
  • 3. In a small bowl, stir together remaining 1/4 cup peanut butter and 1/4 cup ice cream topping. Spread evenly over bars and sprinkle with peanuts, pressing lightly.
  • 4. Let bars stand 1 hour to set. Use foil to lift from pan. Cut into bars.

Tips:

  • Mise en place: Before you start baking, measure and prepare all of your ingredients. This will help you stay organized and ensure that you don't miss anything.
  • Use a food processor: A food processor makes it quick and easy to combine the ingredients for the peanut butter caramel layer. If you don't have a food processor, you can use a blender or a stand mixer.
  • Don't overcook the caramel: The caramel is done when it reaches a temperature of 240°F (116°C). If you overcook it, it will become too thick and hard.
  • Let the bars cool completely before cutting them: This will help to prevent them from crumbling.

Conclusion:

These peanutty caramel bars are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. With their chewy peanut butter caramel layer, crispy graham cracker crust, and rich chocolate ganache topping, they're sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. So next time you're looking for a sweet and satisfying snack, give these peanutty caramel bars a try!
